The Jordan 5 That Melted Into Translucent Art

Virgil Abloh’s second Air Jordan 5, the Off-White Jordan 5 Sail, dropped October 29, 2020 for $225. Style code DH8565-100. Where the first OW5 wore a dark Black Metallic palette, the Sail flipped everything to a warm, yellowed cream. The upper is built almost entirely from translucent TPE film instead of leather or nubuck. Different material, different crease pattern, different weight. Die-cut circles are punched randomly across the body and tongue, designed to be peeled off for customization.

Exposed foam and mesh sit visible underneath the TPE. Metallic silver 3M tongue with red Jumpman, “23” and Nike Air on the heel, Helvetica text on the medial netting. Black midsole with Fire Red shark teeth and an aged translucent outsole that comes pre-yellowed out of the box. Not oxidation, intentional. A Muslin zip-tie and three lace sets came included. Lighter than it looks. Some people go half down on these.
