Air MaX 97 Jesus Shoes Walk On Water
60cc of Holy Water in Every Step
Brooklyn creative agency MSCHF partnered with INRI to build the Air Max 97 “Jesus Shoes”, a custom that lets you walk on water. Literally. The Max Air bubble is injected with 60cc of holy water sourced from the River Jordan and blessed by a priest. Released October 8, 2019, based on the Air Max 97 silhouette (style code 921826-101-JESUS). The upper is white leather with light blue mesh overlays. A gold stainless-steel crucifix sits on the laces, “MT 14:25” is printed on the lateral forefoot referencing the Bible verse where Jesus walks on the sea, and “MSCHF” and “INRI” appear on the heel tabs. Red wool insoles are scented with frankincense.
The rep captures the water-filled sole, crucifix lace jewel, and blue-tinted color accurately. Heel tab prints are crisp. The muted water-themed palette reads clean in person. We carry it in the Air Max replicas section. Browse the wider 1:1 reps catalog for more statement pieces.
Do the Jesus Shoes actually have holy water in them?
The original MSCHF release contained 60cc of holy water sourced from the River Jordan. Replica versions replicate the water-filled sole visual with tinted liquid in the Air Max bubble, matching the look and concept of the original custom.
How much did the MSCHF Jesus Shoes cost originally?
They launched at $1,425 in October 2019 and sold out immediately. Resale prices have since climbed well above that, with recent sales on StockX and Sotheby’s landing between $3,000 and $6,000 depending on size and condition.
What does MT 14:25 mean on the Jesus Shoes?
It references Matthew 14:25 from the Bible, the passage where Jesus is described walking on the Sea of Galilee. MSCHF printed this verse reference on the lateral forefoot as a nod to the entire concept behind the shoe.
