The Shattered Backboard series started in 2015 with the OG orange and black pair that referenced MJ’s 1985 Italian exhibition game. The 2016 Reverse flipped the panels. And in October 2019, the Air Jordan 1 Retro High Shattered Backboard 3.0 (555088-028) arrived with a new material mix. Black leather base, Starfish orange on the overlays and Swoosh, and Sail on the midsole and quarter panel. The orange panels use a slightly tumbled leather instead of the smooth finish from the 1.0.
The tumbled texture on the orange gives this version more depth and a premium hand feel compared to the earlier releases. Black panels are smooth. Sail tone leans warmer than pure white, adding a subtle vintage touch.
