Tom Sachs Launched the 2.0 at His Space Camp on Governor’s Island

The original Mars Yard from 2012 had wear issues with its Vectran upper, so NikeCraft and Tom Sachs went back to the lab. The Mars Yard 2.0 launched June 8, 2017 at Sachs’ Space Camp event on Governor’s Island in New York City, style code AA2261-100, $200 retail. Off-white polyester mesh upper, Maple nubuck overlays, red Sport Red Swoosh cutting through the panel, red satin tongue tag with NikeCraft branding. X-box stitching on the strap reinforcements, inverted tread outsole, two sets of insoles (breathable mesh and durable cord).

The Mars Yard 2.0 carried Sachs’ bricolage sensibility into a more wearable everyday silhouette than the original. Polyester mesh holds up in regular wear where Vectran broke down. The dual-insole system is the talking point, letting the wearer swap between athletic and recovery setups.
